The Door County Maritime Museum and the Sturgeon Bay Yacht Club are seeking nominations for their new "Mariner Award" that will recognize an individual who's had a significant, positive, lasting impact on the local maritime community. According to Bob Desh, the museum's Executive Director, the criteria are inclusive.
"We are seeking nominees who have contributed significantly and positively to the maritime community, thereby improving the quality of life here in Door County, he explained."Nominees are those special individuals who show concern and consideration for others without regard for personal recognition."
Desh said the museum and yacht club are actively seeking nominations from members of the community. The nominations must highlight the individual's contributions to any component of the Door Peninsula's maritime community. The nomination may recognize a single event or activity; significant contributions over a period of months or years; or lifetime achievement or accomplishment. The nomination must not exceed one double-spaced, type-written page, and it must include the nominee's name and address as well as the nominating person's name, address, phone number and email address.
Please submit nominations to: Door County Maritime Museum, 120 North Madison Ave., Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235. All nominations must be received by Friday, July 2nd.
The winner will be presented with the Mariner's Award at a special Award Presentation Dinner at the Sturgeon Bay Yacht Club on Thursday, August 5. The event will commence with a social hour at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m.
