SeaScouts

DCMM is establishing a Sea Scout unit in Door County! A division of the Boy Scouts of America for over 100 years, the co-ed Sea Scouting program has promoted better citizenship and improved boating skills through instruction and practice in water safety, service experiences, and knowledge of maritime heritage. SeaScouts is open to area youth ages 14-21.

Sea Scout units – called ships – are established on oceans, bays, rivers, and lakes. In Sea Scouts, you build your own adventure! Sea Scouting provides limitless opportunities and exciting challenges that you won’t find anywhere else. It is a place to grow and learn, find adventure, and build long-lasting friendships.

Sea Scouts are recognized and rewarded for the things they learn and do. You can earn valuable certifications in Scuba, boating safety, lifesaving, and CPR, as well as advance in rank from Apprentice to Quartermaster. Each certification and level of advancement marks your growth as a sailor and a leader.

Also participating in the Door County SeaScout program are representatives from America’s Boating Club, the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, and Bay-Lakes Area Council Scouting District.

Please contact the museum office if you would like to be a Sea Scouts member or program leader.
